If you’ve spent much time with me and Maggie or have attended one of our cooking demos or events, you are likely familiar with the origin story of The Farmer & The Foodie. With our roots in a friendship forged over homemade chicken wings and a hike to harvest wild ramps, our passions for food and farming have melded naturally over the past ten years. During that decade, so many formative moments stand out to me, from the taste of those wild ramps, dug straight from the forest floor, to receiving the news that our show had been nominated for a regional Emmy award. And I still have a champagne cork from when we spent a long afternoon in a spare office space, making plans, setting goals, and writing what would become the mission statement for The Farmer & The Foodie. We recently revisited our mission during a trip to Princeton, Kentucky, where we filmed the first episode of season five - spoiler alert, it features the world renowned Newsom’s Country Ham! While the original still holds true, we took the time to expand and further define our who, what and why. Whether you’ve been following along with us from the beginning or if you have only recently stumbled upon our show over on KET, we can’t tell you how much we appreciate your support!

The Farmer & The Foodie is dedicated to promoting regenerative agriculture and celebrating the beauty of seasonal ingredients, fostering a deeper connection between people and the food they eat. Hosts Maggie Keith (The Farmer) and Lindsey McClave (The Foodie) venture near and far from their Old Kentucky Home, highlighting regional food traditions and drawing inspiration from the farms, ingredients, and people they encounter. They bring what they've learned into the kitchen, where they create delicious, approachable recipes. The Farmer & The Foodie is more than a cooking show, it’s a way of life!
