We're Hiring: Social Media Content Manager (Part-Time / Contract)
The Farmer & The Foodie is a Kentucky-based TV show and brand celebrating local farmers, food culture, and the joy of gathering around the table. We air on KET (PBS Kentucky) and share stories from rural Kentucky farms to Lindsey’s kitchen — connecting people to where their food comes from and the people behind it.
We’re looking for a creative, organized, and food-loving Social Media Content Manager to help us grow our brand, build community, and tell our story online — while keeping an eye on what’s working, what’s not, and where we can grow smarter.
About the Role
This is a part-time, contract role for someone who loves storytelling through social media, thrives in fast-paced creative environments, and can capture both beautiful and authentic moments — while also analyzing data and optimizing for growth.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a monthly content strategy across Instagram and Facebook
Capture behind-the-scenes content on filming days and farm visits (occasional travel in Kentucky)
Edit and post Reels, Stories, and grid posts with engaging captions and hashtags
Manage posting schedule and community engagement (comments, DMs, story replies)
Track and report on account growth, post performance, reach, engagement, and website clicks
Analyze ROI of content types and campaigns; adjust strategy accordingly
Target specific growth goals, such as audience demographics, location-based followers, and niche communities (foodies, farm lovers, PBS viewers)
Collaborate with Lindsey and Maggie on content ideas, giveaways, and campaigns
Support brand partnership pitches by providing engagement metrics and performance insights
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
We’re results-driven and expect our Social Media Content Manager to track and report progress toward clear monthly and quarterly goals:
Follower Growth: Achieve a steady increase in engaged, organic followers (goal: 10K+ on IG within 12 months)
Engagement Rate: Maintain or improve engagement rates (likes, comments, shares, saves)
Reach/Impressions: Increase monthly reach, particularly within Kentucky and food/lifestyle audiences
Reels Views: Target average views per Reel and identify top-performing content
Community Growth: Track number of new DMs, comments, and meaningful brand interactions
ROI Reporting: Provide monthly analytics reports with insights and actionable next steps
